LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPOND TO FATAL ACCIDENT THAT LEAVES ONE DECEASED

CEDAR CITY – A man died this afternoon when his vehicle caught fire at the base of Cedar Canyon.

Cedar City Police Department officers responded to the incident on state Route 14 at milepost 1, where they found the car fully engulfed in flames, according to a press release from Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow.

The first responding officer used a fire extinguisher to combat the blaze until the fire department arrived to fully extinguish it.
Police said the cause of the fire is still unclear and is still under investigation.


“The accident involved a single car and the single occupant is deceased” Ludlow said.
The jaws of life were used in the accident, authorities said. However, no further details were provided.
The name of the victim is unknown as police said they are still working to identify the body, Ludlow said.
