Kellen Barry Crosby, 34, was booked into the Iron County Jail on Thursday evening after allegedly attacking his boyfriend with an electric dremal and block of wood.

Crosby faces several charges including aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. He was also charged with multiple misdemeanors including four counts of possession of a controlled substance, destruction of property, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and driving under the influence.

According to court records filed in 5th District Court, Iron County Sheriff deputies responded to a call Nov. 14 to reports of an individual who wanted to speak with authorities at the Cedar City Hospital.

He told medical personnel he wanted to report an assault that had taken place in Kanarraville.

While deputies were speaking with the victim, hospital staff informed them that the alleged suspect of the attack had just been admitted into the hospital and was also being treated for an injury but decided to leave after hearing law enforcement was there.

Authorities attempted to locate the suspect.

The victim reportedly told police the attack occurred at the home of the victim and his boyfriend, Crosby.

The victim stated he and Crosby had been in a verbal disagreement when Crosby reportedly began cutting into the victim’s television with an electric dremal.

When the victim tried to push Crosby out of the house, Crosby allegedly began slashing into the victim, striking him multiple times in the abdomen with the running dremal.

The victim said he continued to try to push Crosby out of the house, but he began throwing things in the home and at the victim.

At one point Crosby allegedly grabbed a block of wood and struck the victim in the head, leaving a four-inch gash, the affidavit states.

Hospital staff told police that the cut required nine staples to close.

The victims said he had hit Crosby with the vape he had in his hand in an attempt to defend himself.

Following the attack, the victim reportedly left the house with his mother who drove him to the Cedar City Hospital.

Deputies were able to locate Crosby in his vehicle in Kanarraville and initiated a traffic stop.

Crosby was then placed under arrest and detained in a patrol vehicle until other law enforcement were finished interviewing the victim.

Deputies conducted a search of Crosby’s vehicle where they reportedly found large amounts of controlled substances including oxycodone, hydromorphone, hydrocodone in an unlabeled bottle. He also had a jar that had a green leafy substance inside and a ziploc bag containing a clear crystal-like material and a blue pipe.

Crosby told police he was moving out of the home due to ongoing issues and that it was “just two friends in an argument.”

Crosby admitted the two had a fight but refused any additional details.

Crosby later said that during the argument, he and the victim both fell down the stairs, blaming that incident for his injuries. Crosby denied hitting the victim with a piece of wood.

Crosby admitted the drugs in the vehicle belonged to him but then refused to discuss anything further after police asked for additional information. A field sobriety test showed the suspect was impaired, the affidavit states.

The victim and his mother later showed authorities the home where police said they saw the damaged TV, clock and numerous spots of blood they believed to be from the alleged attack.

After being transported to Cedar City Hospital where he received a blood draw and receiving medical clearance, Crosby was booked into the Iron County Jail. Police requested that he be held without bail.
