Authorities have confirmed that a woman was found deceased Friday evening along Coal Creek in Cedar Canyon, between mileposts 3 and 4 on State Route 14.

According to a statement from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 7:37 PM to a report of a body near the creek. Upon arrival, they located a deceased female, believed to be approximately 60 years old, beneath a bush near the waterline.
Although early reports suggested the woman may have been found in a vehicle and was much younger, officials have now confirmed she was discovered outdoors and likely middle-aged. The cause of death has not been released, but law enforcement currently does not consider the circumstances suspicious.

The woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Special thanks were extended by ICSO to Utah Highway Patrol, the Medical Examiner’s Office, and Cedar Fire Department for their coordinated response.
The Zion Times will provide updates as more information becomes available.
