ABOUT THE ZION TIMES

The Zion Times is a small, independent online news publication based in Southern Utah. Founded and operated by Sachet A. Sullivan, the publication is committed to bringing honest, in-depth reporting to the heart of Southern Utah.

The idea for The Zion Times was born after Sachet returned home to Southern Utah following a decade living in Southwest Wyoming. During her time in Wyoming, Sachet built a strong legal career, working as a paralegal for several prestigious law firms. Notably, she served as the Workers’ Compensation Paralegal for attorney Michael D. Newman at Hampton and Newman Law, and as a Legal Assistant to District Court Judge Suzannah B. Robinson (Gambell) at Gambell Law, P.C., two years before Judge Robinson’s appointment to the Sweetwater County District Court.

Beyond her legal work, Sachet was deeply involved in civic life, taking an active role in local, state, and federal elections. In 2021, she was appointed Sweetwater County Lead for Harriet Hageman’s Congressional campaign. She also previously served as the County Lead for Taylor Haynes during his 2017 run for Governor of Wyoming.

In late 2021, Sachet suffered the heartbreaking loss of a close friend to a drug overdose in Southern Utah — a tragedy that profoundly affected her. Wrestling with grief, she ultimately decided to move back home, driven by a renewed purpose to serve her community.

Sachet’s mother, a respected investigative journalist in Southern Utah for nearly three decades, had recently relocated to Wyoming. With her mother’s departure, there was a noticeable void in local investigative journalism — one Sachet felt called to fill.

Upon returning to Cedar City, Sachet witnessed firsthand the growing pains associated with Utah’s rapid development, sparking concerns about whether Iron County was equipped to handle the challenges that accompany such growth, including the rise in crime.

The tipping point came when news broke about the construction of the new Iron Springs Inland Port. With increasing community concerns about the potential for drug and human trafficking, Sachet was inspired to officially launch The Zion Times — a publication dedicated to uncovering the truth, advocating for the community, and standing watch over the region, she proudly calls home.
